2015 Invitation and Announcement

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings!

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to your interest in the 2015 Asian Association of Police Studies (AAPS) annual conference for a long while. Last month, the AAPS Chairman, Mr. Kuo-Chun Lin, Charles Chang and I visited China and counseled with the delegation of China Police Association (CPA) and the potential host Zhejiang Police College. We have come to a decision and I am more than happy to inform you that AAPS will hold the 2015 Annual Conference and the Police and Science International Forum in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China on October 26-30, 2015. Specifically, Zhejiang Police College will be our host of the annual conference, and the conference dates happen to be the best time of the year to visit the best scenic city Hangzhou in China.

The theme for this upcoming conference is “Police Reform and Social Governance”. Any paper in the following subjects/related fields are more than welcome:

  1. Anti-terrorism and policing.
  2. Internet/ cybercrime investigation and internet security.
  3. Internet of Things (IoT) security and crime prevention.
  4. Transnational crimes and police cooperation.
  5. Media, social media, and policing.
  6. Police recruitment, selection, education, and training.

Moreover, there will be a site visit to Hangzhou Police Department and the Headquarters of Alibaba in Hangzhou to observe the operation of Internet of Things after the conference.

You are most cordially invited to participate. For your convenience, we are attaching the flyer. Those who wish to propose a presentation are required to send the abstracts no more than July 15th, 2015 by email to reach Alan Xie via [email protected] or Sharon Mao via [email protected]. The full papers will be due on September 15th, 2015.

The registration fee for the annual conference is USD $ 300, including $ 100 is AAPS membership fee and $200 for the local transportation, meals, site visits and conference materials. According to the AAPS tradition, if you submit a paper and is accepted to be presented at the conference, you will receive 4-night’s free accommodations (October 26th-29th). Other participants can stay at the conference accommodation at discounted rate (about $ 50 USD per room per night) paid by themselves.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know your intention to this conference by July 15th, since we need to arrange enough accommodations in advance. Please spread and share this information with whoever may be interested. We are looking forward to seeing you at the conference.
